On May 10, 2022, military journalist Yuri Butusov published a major report on the February 25 battle near Stary Saltov, during which a Rosguard column was defeated: “On February 24, a number of units of the 92nd Brigade were surrounded near the border with Russia. On February 25, the 6th Company made a breakthrough to Kharkiv. They made a breakthrough straight down the road clogged with Russian troops. The forces were uneven - the columns were accompanied by Russian tanks, which set fire to three of our BTR-4. Our combat vehicles took off from the turn and saw a whole column of the Rosguard, packed with soldiers, fully armed, as well as with paddy wagons, batons, handcuffs and equipment to disperse the demonstrations. By order of the company commander, the surviving BTR-4s hit the enemy troops with Stugna missiles and 30-mm guns, the distance was minimal, each projectile went into the target. Russian tanks approached the battlefield and two more of our BTR-4s, which fired at the column, were shot down after they fired all their ammunition. During the battle, the Ukrainian infantry dismounted and killed the surviving Rosguard officers with small arms. Six soldiers of the 6th Company of the 92nd Brigade died brave during the breakthrough. However, most of the fighters and the surviving vehicles managed to break out of the encirclement and reach Kharkiv, where they immediately turned to the defense.”
